GRADUATION CEREMONY: A SPECIAL DAY AT BRAND UNIVERSITY
The graduation ceremony of the graduating class is always a great pleasure at Brand University, but the celebration in the summer semester 2020 will be remembered as an extraordinary day.
For a long time, it was not certain whether the about 90 graduates could even be said goodbye personally and on site. The joy was all the greater that the graduating class arrived in the Mozartsäle on September 28, 2020, to celebrate the end of their studies in their hats and gowns.
In order to let the celebration take place according to the rules of the “new normality”, the festivities turned into a whole graduation day. In three ceremonies the graduates celebrated in the company of their friends and families.
The ceremonies were opened by Prof. Dr. h. c. Shan Fan, followed by speeches by the program directors. Also representatives of each course took their turn to say goodbye to Brand University and their fellow students with a review of their studies and a reflection on the path ahead of them.
First, Prof. Dr. Joachim Bongard and Prof. Ansgar Eidens welcomed their graduates from the specializations Brand Communication, Digital Design and Communication Design. Of around 50 international students only half could be on site, the others had completed their studies from home during the pandemic.
The group of Master’s graduates that followed was also smaller than during the studies. Eight out of 20 students celebrated in the Mozartsäle. Those who could not be there had already met with Prof. Dr. Yonca Limon-Calisan at BU a few weeks ago to experience the feeling of hat and gown before their departure.
Finally, 18 Brand Management graduates were bid farewell by Prof. Ute Röseler and let the evening come to an end. The two graduates with the best final theses received a special honor: A one year membership in the G.E.M (Gesellschaft zur Erforschung des Markenwesens e. V.).
Congratulations to our new alumni! We wish them success and all the best for the next chapter of their exciting future.
