Design student Lea Lindau as speaker at the Forward Festival 2021

Every year, the Forward Festival Hamburg brings together creatives from the international design industry. This year, the analogue and digital encounters took place under the motto “Me, We – together we can“.

On the 1st and 2nd of July, the master classes, workshops and talks focused on the question of the significance of society – especially with a regard to our lives in the pandemic.

Lea Lindau, a 4th semester Brand Design student, was one of the speakers at Wix Playground. The platform gives young creatives a voice and, as a partner of the Forward Festival, called on young designers to submit their work.

Lea received one of the two much sought-after programme slots with her semester project from the “Corporate Design” course by Prof. Ansgar Eidens and was given the chance to present her work in front of an international audience.

In line with the festival’s motto, Lea’s project revolved around the topic of donations. Her focus was on the conception of a modern and integrative donation platform with an unconventional “look & feel” that distinguishes it from common platforms.

But how does it feel as a design student to stand on an international stage in front of an expert audience and to present your work?

“Of course I was scared at first, especially because the other speakers at the festival were more experienced in their work and in their performance. But the experience of participating was totally worth it! I really enjoyed being on stage. And since the majority of the audience was there digitally and not on site, the nervousness was ultimately kept within limits,” says Lea.

Her conclusion: “The experience was a reality check. It made me realise that it is important to always look at oneself in context. Of course, one’s own expectations are high for such a performance. But being aware that you’re still pretty much at the beginning is really important!”

Congratulations, Lea, on this unique opportunity and experience!
