SNEAK PEEK: BU CAMPUS MAKEOVER

How can you make the most of a semester when there are no students on campus? At BU, we decided to use the time to thoroughly renovate and give our rooms at the Rainvilleterrasse Campus a makeover!

Big and small changes await our students the next time they visit the campus.

The greatest change: We have gained the first floor! Where previously the Design Factory International (DFI) had its premises, we can now use the entire floor for lectures, seminars and events.

In this way, the student service office could also move into a larger room on the 1st floor and now offers more space for the students’ needs. From the staircase, it now catches the eye immediately and welcomes everyone with an open door.

But things have also changed on the second floor. Where the library used to be, there is now a place to study, eat and relax together. The new Hang Out invites you to enjoy the view of the Elbe or to make yourself comfortable on one of the sofas. The historic floorboards also shine in new splendour again.

The summer semester 2020 has not only resulted in the redesign of the university rooms, but has also brought digital education into our university. To make it work even better, several rooms are now technically equipped in such a way that hybrid teaching (a mixture of online and offline) will be easily possible in future.

For example, the equipment can be used to stream live recordings from lessons. We have already had the first opportunities to try it out – for example at the final presentation of the practical project with Can Axartell.

We are looking forward to making the Brand University accessible to all students for classes on campus again soon and to finally enjoying the new rooms together!
