At BU’s distance learning programmes, you can expect an academic education that adapts to your life. You can start your studies at any time, organise your learning schedule freely, and complete your assessments online at your preferred date.

Your study journey: 100% digital, 100% flexible

Our distance learning programmes are designed especially for working professionals with busy lives. To ensure you have enough time for your further education alongside family, work, and leisure, we have developed a particularly flexible study concept. You can look forward to an innovative distance learning experience with a wide range of digital learning tools and the option to take your assessments conveniently online at a time of your choice.

Enrolment and start of studies

Once you have chosen your programme, you can easily enrol online via our application form. During your application, you will select your preferred start date. After you have submitted your application, our team will carefully review your documents to ensure that you meet the admission requirements for your programme.

As soon as everything has been checked and confirmed, nothing stands in the way of your studies. You will be fully enrolled on your chosen start date. Afterwards, you will receive your student ID card and can begin taking assessments.

Onboarding

Shortly after the start of your studies, one of our study coaches will get in touch with you. You will then have the opportunity to book an individual onboarding session. In this session, your study coach will show you everything you need for a successful start to your programme.

  • You will be guided step by step through the study platform

  • You will be introduced to your key contacts

  • You will receive helpful tips for your first module

  • If you wish, you will also be connected with fellow students right away

Module Structure and Learning Tools

Your syllabus consists of several modules, which you complete one after the other. Each module provides a variety of innovative teaching and study materials, including textbooks, videos, interactive exercises, audio files, and quizzes to check your understanding.

Each module concludes with an online assessment, which you can take when you feel ready. You choose the date yourself and are not bound by any deadlines.

Taking Online Exams

In your BU distance learning programme, you can take your exams conveniently online – exactly when you feel fully prepared. This way, you can always take your exams at your best! Group work or projects are not part of your distance learning programme.

How online exams work at Brand University:

  • Select your desired exam on the study platform

  • Check your equipment (webcam, microphone) before starting

  • Complete your exam and submit it online once finished

Personal Support and Networking

Although you study online, you are never alone. During your distance learning programme, you benefit from comprehensive and individual support. Our lecturers are available to assist you with academic questions, while a technical support team is on hand to help with the study platform or online exams. Our study coaches support you in planning and organising your studies.

If you wish, you can also network with fellow students from around the world, exchange ideas about the distance learning programme, and build valuable professional connections. Networking opportunities are available via social media, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, or directly through the study platform.

Final Project and Thesis Defence

At the end of your distance learning programme, you will complete your final project and then take your thesis defence. A supervisor will be assigned to guide you through the preparation of your final project, which typically takes around four months to complete.

The thesis defence is the final step before graduation. During this online session (via Microsoft Teams), you will be asked questions about your final project and selected topics from your studies. You will receive your grade immediately after the defence. Congratulations – you have successfully completed your programme and taken an important step forward in your career!
