The opening of the exhibition Shan Fan - Im Zeichen des Bambus will take place on Wednesday, 1 June 2016, at 6 pm at the Freie Akademie der Künst in Hamburg.
Even after more than four decades, bamboo painting is still an untrodden path for the artist and founder of the Brand Academy Prof. h.c. Shan Fan. Whether in ink on rice paper, oil on canvas, overpainting a traditional classic or in the media of installation and performance - in his works, Shan Fan reflects and transforms the potential for abstraction that characterises bamboo painting. The line becomes a surface, the moment becomes duration, entropy becomes a physical experience. The exhibition Shan Fan - In the Sign of Bamboo traces this development retrospectively.
