SPRING FESTIVAL GALA 2021

The Year of the Ox has begun, which is a special reason to celebrate for our Chinese students. They gathered to honour the Chinese Spring Festival and – despite the pandemic – it was a great celebration via Zoom!

The Spring Festival Gala was organised as part of the International Office’s “PLUS Program” by student assistants and many student volunteers. Jointly, they had put together a programme for the evening.

The event was opened by university president Prof. Dr. h.c. Shan Fan and Korinna Puls, head of the International Office. In their speeches, they both praised the students for their will power to study in Germany in these extraordinary times far away from their families.

After the official opening, the students took over with live performances. There were various music acts, singing and performing instruments like guitar and saxophone. As good food cannot be missing at a holiday party, one student demonstrated as a show chef how he prepared his feast.

Fun games, such as Charades, made the evening even more exciting and interactive. As tradition goes, red envelopes were also handed out. They contained prizes for the winners of the various games.

This Chinese New Year was the biggest we have ever celebrated at Brand University. We would like to thank the dedicated students who came up with many great ideas and put in a lot of effort to make the festive occasion beautiful, even away from home. We will all remember this evening as fun and, above all, extraordinary.
