BA Students @ Brand Union Idea Lab

Late last year, about 20 students of our International Brand Communication M.A. and our Brand Design B.A. programme had another great opportunity to sniff the air of a real-life agency. As part of the study module “Open Innovation & Digital Thinking“ they visited Superunion’s (formerly known as Brand Union) headquarter in Hamburg in order to experience the latest developments in an industry that promises many relevant job opportunities.

During the two-day workshop “Innovation Days – Brand Union Idea Lab“, a team of the agency for branding, brand strategy and innovation management elaborated on the foundations of innovation management processes and underlying methods such as design thinking.

In order to answer the key question “Which product or service may facilitate, enrich or enhance our lives in the year 2030?“, both students and agency representatives focused on current societal topic and trends. In the course of the workshop, the students experienced a simulated average day at an agency filled to the brim with concept development, test loops, prototyping, business modelling and elevator pitches.

18 hours of concentrated work later our students had plenty to show for their efforts: Innovative solutions for inner-city mobility, meaningful ways to bridge waiting periods and systems that incentivise the mindful handling of one’s own work/life balance.

We would like to take this opportunity to say many thanks to Superunion for the great experience and the deep insights!
